The Virginia Education Association (VEA) is dedicated to improving education and the lives of education professionals in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Through advocacy work, VEA’s goal is to unite members to fulfill their vision of high-quality public education.

VEA came to us with a website that was difficult to update and not mobile responsive. The site was in an outdated CMS and had outgrown the original format, making it hard to find information as there were pages within pages, dead links, and the site search didn’t work.

The Solution

Our work with VEA focused on a common goal: Create a site that focuses on expanding membership and engaging existing members.

They felt their previous site didn’t speak to all of their members equally, so we began with an overhaul of their navigation and content to make the site structure clearer and more concise.

VEA’s goal was to update the site in-house and utilize dynamic content. We built various flexible content blocks to give them the ability to create and design new pages as needed, and the ability to tag information to multiple pages allows VEA to engage multiple visitor groups.

The final website also has various custom features such as a login area for their members and an interactive map of Virginia to showcase local associations and encourage involvement at the local level. The login area includes exclusive access to news and resources, increasing the value of membership.

Members can update passwords, while editors can create and disable accounts, creating a streamlined management system.
